Custom Sokka Jian-Pieces

This is the exploded view of my custom Sokka Jian.

As you can see, there's actually quite a few parts to it. Everything except the blade was designed and machined by myself.

The hilt is made of brass, but is actually four seperate parts. There are two 1/2" thick pieces that are screwed together over the blade and clamp it in place, and then there are two more thinner plates that are bolted onto the outer surfaces of the hilt. As a way to make that earthbending symbol pop out, I milled the base hilt's surface shiny and smooth and then sand-blasted the face plates. The contrast on reflection really makes the symbol stand out.

The pommel is also lathed out of solid brass with a few little grooves carved out for aesthetics. The wood of the grip press-fits nicely into it, and then the pommel screws onto the end of the sword tang.

Also, as you can see by the sheer difference in width between the blade and the tang (the section of the blade covered by the grip), the weld that connects the two becomes a major weak spot. Hence this sword is purely for decoration and cool poses. I may fool around and go through some stances with it, but there's definitely no chance of this sword seeing any rigorous use. I'd be likely to snap the blade off.
